Nature
Chatsworth Farm is a space for nature:
No fertiliser, weed killer or pesticides are used; promoting soil health and biodiversity.
Hedges are deliberately unkempt providing undisturbed, year-round food and shelter for birds. Native wild flowers including Ragged Robin and Hedge Bedstraw are starting to appear, attracting butterflies and other insects, these in turn provide food for bats and swallows.
The stone barn’s 200 year old lime pointing lets bumble bees access their nests in the stone work.
Barn owls hunt in the rough grass, newts and toads abide in the damper areas and hedgehogs flatten tracks in the mature grass, where leverets hide.
